This great news was forwarded to me by Robert O. Gallimard, the French publisher of Roald Dahl, is preparing an omnibus paperback edition of the adult stories of Roald Dahl. The book will include an illustrated chronology of the life and work of the author. In this part of the book, we would very much like to reproduce the first page of the first story of Roald Dahl, « Shot Down Over Libya », published by the Saturday Evening Post in 1942, with an illustration by John F. Gould, and we ask for your permission. Please find enclosed a copy of the page. We shall of course mention you in the credits. The Roald Dahl Story Company has already given us their authorization and the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Center has provided us with a High Res file. Please let me know if you have any further questions. I look very much forward to hearing from you, kind regards, Anne Sorensen

John Gould Art Giveaway History has a bad reputation of being boring and dull, but after one look at the vibrant historical paintings of John Gould, history has never been so captivating. John Gould was a well-known lecturer and artist. Over the years, he graduated and taught at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, illustrated for the Saturday Evening Post and General Electric Company. John's son Robert and wife Loretta now work to archive and steward his father's art in museums and collections. As part of his work, Robert is giving away the remainder of his father's legacy print collection for free. Robert and Loretta will be at the Samaritan Center on May 20th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., giving away free print reproductions of four works. They are titled the Statue of Liberty, Columbus discovers America, Alexander Hamilton, and the Mary Powell. This event will be at the Samaritan Center, 9231 Lee Hwy., Ooltewah, TN 37363. The John Gould Artwork Logo was designed in the spirit of playfulness that I remember Grandpa and all of his sons exuded. The Ark in fact had significant meaning to John Gould, he intended to create a comical artist impression of the actual Noah's Ark reality. He often described what it could have looked like in his typical laughter and joy.
