History has a bad reputation of being boring and dull, but after one look at the vibrant historical paintings of John Gould, history has never been so captivating. John Gould was a well-known lecturer and artist. Over the years, he graduated and taught at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, illustrated for the Saturday Evening Post and General Electric Company.
John's son Robert and wife Loretta now work to archive and steward his father's art in museums and collections. As part of his work, Robert is giving away the remainder of his father's legacy print collection for free.
Robert and Loretta will be at the Samaritan Center on May 20th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., giving away free print reproductions of four works. They are titled the Statue of Liberty, Columbus discovers America, Alexander Hamilton, and the Mary Powell. This event will be at the Samaritan Center, 9231 Lee Hwy., Ooltewah, TN 37363.
